Of all the good times we used to have together. Those days we spent listening to your Whitney Houston albums while just sitting in each others company. There is no denying that I’m so familiar with the artist because of you. I look at a picture of her or hear a song on the radio and I instantly think of you and how much you admired her. Upon hearing about her death, my sleep-addled brain wanted to call and talk to you about it before anyone else. Her death is not only tragic because the world has lost a pop icon, but because it’s a reminder of the relationship we used to have. I can’t help but imagine the type of memorial we would’ve had today - probably dinner, looping all of her albums for hours, and trying our best to sing with as much passion as the woman herself. It’s a little cliched to say that she brought out the best in us, brought us together as mother and daughter, but it’s true.
I hope you thought of some of our good times today, as I did. Do you miss me? Miss us? Because, today, I certainly did.
